CH23 Chair
The CH23 dining chair was one of the first chairs that Hans J. Wegner designed for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1950. The first masterpieces he created were not only unique, but also set new standards for modern furniture design with their artistic expression and ergonomic shapes. Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduced CH23 in 2017, according to Wegner's original drawings, which made this early masterpiece part of the range again.
The CH23 has a number of well-known Wegner details such as the shape of the elegant wooden details in the backrest, the special double-woven seat and the curved shape of the rear legs to ensure optimal stability. The chair may seem uncomplicated at first glance, but on closer inspection many fine details emerge. Wegner's exquisitely refined woodwork can be seen in the cruciform details, which he used to mark the meeting between the molded backrest in veneer and the chair's frame.
The chair is made of solid wood with a seat of waxed paper string. Available in a large number of different designs.
