No 118 Chair
No 811 chair was designed by Josef Hoffman in 1930 and is made of black-stained beech with a natural rattan back and veneer seat.
Rattan is a natural material that over time becomes brittle and sensitive to pressure. To prevent the rattan from cracking and breaking, it must be maintained by watering the rattan with a water bottle. The water makes the rattan more resilient, which in turn makes it last longer and gives longer life.
