BL2 table lamp Bestlite was designed by the Englishman Robert Dudley Best and has been in production since 1930. 80 years later, Bestlite is still true to its original design and industrial roots. Bestlite is part of the permanent collections at both the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London and one of its most famous users is Sir Winston Churchill himself. Loved by architects, designers and design enthusiasts for 80 years, Bestlite is today a global design icon to be reckoned with. Robert Dudley Best was strongly influenced by the Bauhaus movement. Bauhaus was a school of arts and crafts, design and architecture that combined practical crafts with art. The school was founded in 1919 in Germany and operated until 1933 when the Nazis forced it to close. Bauhaus has had a strong influence on the continued development of art, architecture, graphic design, interior design and industrial design. The Bauhaus is still today one of the most influential forces behind what we call modern architecture and design.
