This handmade rug, made from 100% New Zealand wool known for its quality and softness, combines Chontos' dynamic visual language with LAYERED's expertise in textile craftsmanship. About the Production Each rug in the Heather Chontos collection takes between 5 and 10 days to create, and requires 2 to 3 artisans. The weavers use hand knotting and alternate between 10 to 15 yarn shades to follow the pattern. Different dyeing techniques, such as space, solid and abrash dyeing, capture the depth and colors of Chonto's paintings. After completion, the yarn is washed separately, and the rug is hand-cut for the final touch. About Heather Chontos Heather Chontos is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist, known for her abstract compositions that focus on bold colors and dynamic shapes. Chontos has collaborated with top brands such as Ligne Roset, creating a limited edition slipcover for their 50th anniversary of the Togo sofa. Her work has been exhibited in New York, London and Paris, and has received recognition in both design and art. She is also a recipient of the Elle Deco International Design Award.
