Bruno Mathsson was born in 1907 in Småländska Värnamo as the son of a carpenter and through his father learned the craft from scratch. Mathsson came to live and work in Värnamo for most of his life and became one of Sweden's foremost furniture designers and designers. Mathsson began his career as a designer in the early 1930s and only five years later came the breakthrough in the larger arenas.
