Aslak Chair - Artek

Aslak Chair Aslak chair from Artek is made of beech wood and is as elegant as it is versatile. Stackable, lightweight and exceptionally inviting, it fits equally well in restaurants, meeting rooms or homes. Its short rounded armrests mean it can easily be pulled up to desks and dining tables, while its curved seat and backrest allow for hours of comfortable sitting. Sketched as early as 1946 by Ilmari Tapiovaara, it was not manufactured until 1958, when technological advances made mass production possible. Tapiovaara was a pioneer in modern Finnish design, trying to combine plasticity with economical use of materials – an aspiration that the Aslak chair perfectly achieves.
