J18 Chair J18 chair was designed by Børge Mogensen in 1945. Like Mogensen’s other well-known FDB chairs, this model is distinguished by its clean, Nordic design with no decoration or unnecessary trimmings, and where the focus is on function and simplicity. The comfortable chair was inspired by the old eighteenth-century English Windsor chairs. The solid backrest continues into the armrests, which fit under most tabletops. The comfortable, bowl-shaped wooden seat slopes gently backwards. The J18 is available in both solid beech and oak. The beech chair is available in several beautiful colours, while the oak chair is oiled.
